Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Zonta International envisions a world in which women's rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men. In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.
The word “Zonta” is a Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning “honest and trustworthy”. Zonta's first club was chartered in 1919 in Buffalo, New York. Zonta International has over 30,000 members in 1,200 clubs in 67 countries around the world. Zontians all over the world volunteer their time and talents to support to local and international service projects, as well as scholarship programs aimed at fulfilling Zonta's mission and objectives.
The objectives of Zonta International are:
- To improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local level through service and advocacy.
- To work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of members.
- To promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
- To be united internationally to foster high ethical standards, to implement service programs, and to provide mutual support and fellowship for members who serve their communities, their nations and the world.
Zonta International, its districts and its clubs are nonsectarian and nonpartisan.

Our dearest sister Marie-Helene Mallet has passed away on 02.01.2020.
Remarcable Zontian, Past District 30 Governor, symbol of devotion to Zonta`s mission , she will stay forever in our hearts.
Creative and brave, full of enthusiasm and ideas, always smiling, ready to help and share knowledge and support - that is how we will remeber her.
Our Simone Ovart left us on January 9th.
Simone has been a symbol of devoted and committed Zontian. She was a special and amazing woman. Gracious, strong and passionate. We shall all miss her. But she will always be in our hearts.
Area Director in 1996-1998, member of ZISVAW International Committee in 2000-2002, Governor D30 in 2002-2004, she had the power and the honor to establish 12 new Clubs and one new country, Macedonia.
